Why GeM Registration Matters for India EdTech & Government Buyers

If you're evaluating interactive panels or signage for a school, university or government office, GeM status should be the first filter you apply — not the last.

What GeM registration actually verifies

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is India’s official procurement portal for public buyers. A GeM-listed supplier has been vetted on entity registration, GST compliance, and — for manufactured goods — a Make in India content declaration. For a procurement officer, buying from a GeM-listed, India-manufactured vendor removes a compliance step that an imported brand without GeM listing cannot skip.

Why this matters more for interactive panels specifically

Pro-AV hardware — interactive flat panels, LED walls, video conferencing gear — is disproportionately imported in India. A domestically manufactured, GeM-listed alternative at comparable specification is often the only option that clears procurement without a special exemption request, which can add months to a tender timeline.
